If a cavity reaches the nerve in a baby tooth, a procedure called a “pulpotomy” is done to restore the tooth back to health.

The procedure starts by removing the infected pulp tissue within the tooth. A medication is then placed to calm the nerve and prevent bacterial growth, followed by placement of a filling or crown to seal the tooth.
